MEGAN PRITCHARD INTERIORS
REGIONAL OFFICE DESIGN
TAXI is an established international graphic design firm that is looking for a design concept that illustrates an appropriate layout for all employees. This company is taking a portion of a large office building in the center/ core of a commercial high rise in downtown London, Ontario.
The average age of the employees in this office is 27; they all lead fast paced lives and like to be on the leading edge with their services and products. Their workplace should reflect the company’s dynamic energy and brand identity. Therefore, it is important that the company’s image and work is represented all throughout the space. Management has requested the office design to contain both open and closed office systems to maintain a sense hierarchy, while still encouraging communication and collaboration throughout the entire office.
My inspiration came from thinking about physically catching a taxi. The colours of the street, lines on the road, and pop of colour of the taxi opposite the blacks, greys and white was exactly the direction I wanted. Instead of the traditional taxi yellow, I chose to use a more vibrate orange. The entire office space is fused with these main colours\ as it brings the space unity and life. TAXI’s motto is that all the employees are “drivers” and everyone, including the client is heading in the same direction. The reception area and entire office was designed to create a lasting first impression while also showcasing the company’s previous work.
